Meadowbrook Post Office Reviews

  1. Since the second “S” in USPS is “Service”, I would like to comment on the Meadowbrook “Service.”
In almost 80 Years on this planet; the USPS service to my address is by far….BY FAR!!… the worst I have ever encountered. I live in carrier route 3890.
I believe a major contributer to this problem is you allowing the carriers to essentially set their own hours. Apparently, they get paid the full day’s wage for simply delivering the assigned route. Therefore, the faster they go the better the hourly wage. This leads to carriers coming in at any time of day and going home when they have finished the route. This also means that carriers that come to work in the middle of the afternoon (as more than one has done in our fifteen years at our address), we get our mail very late in the day; often well after dark in the winter months! It also leads to cutting corners in the delivery of periodicals.
Specifically a monthly periodical called “Magnificat.” It says on the mailing label that it is “Time Sensitive Material” and must be delivered by the 25th of the preceding month. Several times in recent months we have not rec’d the periodical until well into the calendar month it is intended to provide info on from the 1st of the month.
I have checked with other known recipients of this monthly periodical that live in other zip codes in the 352 delivery area (but not 35242), and they ALL receive the mailing within the prescribed time of the 25th of the previous month. When carriers are allowed to come in late and are motivated to “run the route” and go home, a thorough search for some periodicals does not take place. By the way; there are other monthly periodicals, that are not as time sensitive, that we ALWAYS get later than others.
One day last year a substitute driver was running the route and came much earlier than what we normally had happen. I went to the mail box and asked how (or why) she was so early. She laughed and said that the normal carrier did not normally come to work until well after noon to do her route and even speculated that she had another job or at least some personal responsibility that kept her from coming in earlier.
The other day (Monday) our carrier who normally comes on Mondays between 5 and 7 PM came through the neighborhood at 1:15 PM. I went out asked how he could be so early especially on a Monday. He said he came in early to get the route out of the way because he had something else to do later. This is why I say they can apparently come and go as they please and why I say the delivery of some “Bulk” type stuff suffers.
I would appreciate your reaction and response to this note.
Address is withheld to prevent retaliation. Thanks for your time, Gerry

  2. I went to this location for the first time today and will never go back. I did not even get a chance to send my package off. I stood in line for 20 minutes, 5 of those in which no one was getting service because the workers held a conversation with each other rather than doing their job and helping patrons. It was a complete waste of time and gas. I left went to a different location and was in and out within 5 minutes
