Santa Cruz Post Office Reviews

  1. Re: Santa Cruz main post office 850 Front St.
I asked for assistance at the counter to read a customs form, which is printed in very small and light print. This request was met with an abrupt, if not downright rude, refusal. I was told to “go over there and fill it out and go to the back of the line.” There was no line. There were three employees who could have helped me but on asking another one I was told to go home and fill it out. Eventually a member of the public helped me.
Meanwhile your employees were laughing loudly at someone who had spent $65 on shipping something to Hawaii, “Which probably wouldn’t get there.”

This is no way for a public service to function and I sincerely hope measures will be taken to make forms legible, have a policy of helping people with disabilities and train staff in good manners.

  2. I am a ceramic artist and I sell online so I ship to customers regularly. I go on the USPS website where I schedule online for pick up during regular mail delivery days. This works only when it is my regular mail carrier. Unfortunately, most of the time she does not work her shifts and the subs that work for her never pick up the boxes that I leave in the mail room. The mail carriers need to enter the gate code and drive down the driveway to pick up the boxes. I can not leave the boxes at the mailbox because that is up at the highway and our mail regularly gets stolen out of the mail box and theft is a huge problem so the only safe place to leave boxes is in the mail room. The website allows for the customer to enter special information about where the boxes are left with options to choose from like “mail room”. It is a long drive for me to drive the boxes to the post office and it is a waste to do that since the post office already drives to the property where I live. If they would only enter the gate code and pick up the boxes this would enable me to continue to sell art online and not have to waste gas and time driving to the post office. The post master at the Santa Cruz post office, no matter how much I talk to them, will not help me fix this problem. For a long time they apologize and say they will fix the problem but they never do, and now suddenly, they tell me that I must pay the extra $26 fee to have the mail carrier enter the gate code and pick up the boxes even though I just want them picked up at the regular time when they deliver our mail.
This problem could be resolved if there was a regular swing person- a regular trained substitute that fills in for my mail carrier, who knows the route and can do the job properly. I am only asking the post office to do what is stated that they do as a service as described on their own website for “Schedule an Online Pick up. If the post office can not live up to this task I wish they would not offer this as a supposed service, or even better, I wish they fulfill this wonderful service that I used to so appreciate.
