Canby Post Office Reviews

  1. Since our fantastic postal carrier “Darna” was transferred from our rural route (97013-9135), our mail seems to be delivered by committee, and a very sloppy one at that. The carrier has missed multiple outgoing mail pickups, even with the box flag up indicating an outgoing piece of mail! Sometimes these pieces are bill payments that need to go out that day, necessitating a trip into town to get the mail off on time.

    This is totally lame.

  2. Since our fantastic postal carrier “Darna” was transferred from our rural route (97013-9135), we seem to be getting our deliveries by committee, and a very sloppy one at that. I have had repeated outgoing mail pickups ignored, even with my box flag up. Perhaps this was missed in the carrier’s training. Sometimes the outgoing mail needs to go out that day, and the missed pickup necessitates a trip to Canby to get the correspondence (or bill payment) off on time. This is BS!

  3. I am writing to complain about the mail carrier stuffing a parcel that was 24 inches long into our mail box with a portion of the box hanging out …….they then attached a rubber band to half way secure the door on the mail box. That portion of the box got wet and thankfully no damage occurred and no one stole the package. Usually my packages are delivered to my house especially large packages such as the one I’ve described. In the future I would sincerely appreciate large parcels brought up to my residence. We have a lot of foot traffic on the road by my mail box and packages hanging out of my mailbox are an invitation for theft. Thank you sincerely,Carol Koch ……27225 South Dryland Road. This occurred on 11-15-19.

  4. As a former rural carrier, I can verify all of this abuse is true. Postmaster Gabe Garcia worked me 65 hours per week then laid me off after the holidays because he said I hadn’t learned the routes fast enough. I was sent on 10 different routes usually a different one every day of the week with no legible map and little training. I once was sent out on a route for the first time after sunset. No map! The USPS still owes me $390, which I’ll never see. Thanks to some USPS workers who care, this owed balance is about half of the amount of money Gabe Garcia failed to pay at the end of my tenure. I admire postal carriers. Abusive managers and the employers who allow it, not so much.

  5. On a recent visit home to Canby, I saw a lifelong friend who’s a courier forced to provide her own vehicle, which is an old beat up Jeep Cherokee that can’t hold many packages. She frequently works 12 hour days, being paid for 8, and is constantly putting money into her own vehicle because the Post Master refuses to provide her a vehicle for her over-stretched route. As a military veteran and federal civilian with the DoD, I’m appalled that the USPS exposes some of its workers to these conditions. I was also surprised to learn that they don’t make extra money working weekends and delivery Amazon packages. Maybe the Post Master gets a bonus for saving money on fleet expenses, but this just seems flat wrong in how to treat employees. She’s usually delivering late in the afternoon or early evening, and when I asked why so late, she says she frequently has to make three runs because she can’t fit everything in her Jeep. Meanwhile, I plenty of nice Sprinter vans around town. Seems pretty backward to me. I hope this doesn’t put my friend in a bad way, but as they say… see something, say something.
