Wilmette Post Office Reviews

  1. Hello — We have been a resident of Wilmette for almost 7 years and Ray is our postman and he is the absolute BEST! We had an unfortunate experience today with a postal worker who has been here on occasion filling in. He was juggling a big box and our regular mail so I went out with my 4 year old to help him. He was just at the end of our walkway. Our dog (the sweetest nicest dog ever..Ray and others that fill in love him) was standing behind me in the house so I moved him back and shut the door to help the postman. He started freaking out saying no no no and acting irrationally. I said if you just wait I’m shutting the door so I can help you. My sweet dog had sniffed him ONE time before more than a year ago and he freaked out then. We explained at that time that our dog was very friendly but we certainly understood any fear of dogs. Understanding that he is apparently afraid of dogs, I had already moved my dog and closed the door today and he started arguing with me as to why I opened the door in the first place. I said I’m sorry, but I was simply trying to be a nice neighbor and help you with your parcels. He started yelling at me that “this has happened at this residence more than once”..WHAT? No, our dog sniffed him once and wagged his tail. I’m sorry we were trying to be neighborly and help him and again, I note that I had already shut the door so my dog never came out of the house. I took the box and asked him to “Deliver” the rest of the mail to our mail box and have a nice day and shut the door. My 4 year old asked why he acted like that. We have always had such great experiences in our town here which we think really sets Wilmette apart.
